Design brief

The design is an integrated-design process. The interactions between the architectural functions and engineering functions of the building are exposed during the design. Both functions are integrated organically. The form of the space not only follows its social functions, but also its energy-engineering functions. The impacts on the energy consumption of the building from the climate and geographic factors, and schedule of occupants¡¯ activities are analyzed. The energy conservation and generation approaches, after taking into account the climate and geography factors, are optimized to a time-matching (hours and seasons) level. The apartment building is designed to suit the inhabitants¡¯ needs in an energy-efficient and cost-effective way, and achieve an annually net-zero design.
